Michael Jordan: New Documentary Will Make Me Look Like ‘Horrible Guy’
MICHAEL JORDAN
Oddsmakers Say Broncos Have 3rd-Best Odds Of Signing Jameis Winston
ESPN will be airing a doc- umentary about Michael Jordan and the 1990s Chicago Bulls called “The Last Dance” that has been widely anticipated by sports fans.
Fans crave as much infor- mation and footage possible of MJ and his Bulls teams, and the 10-part series, which began airing on April 19, will give fans a close look at what made the 6-time champion tick. And according to MJ, some people may not like what they see.
Jason Hehir, who di- rected the series, spoke with The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch for an interview about the series. Hehir says Jordan told him many peo- ple would not like what they saw and view MJ as a “hor- rible guy.” The reason? MJ pushed his teammates so much at times that he came across as mean. Jordan is aware of that.
Here is what Hehir says Jordan told him when they met about the project in 2017.
“When people see this footage I’m not sure they’re going to be able to under- stand why I was so intense, why I did the things I did, why I acted the way I acted, and why I said the things I said,” Hehir says Jordan
told him. “When you see the footage of [me riding with Scotty Burrell], you’re going to think that I’m a hor- rible guy. But you have to re- alize that the reason why I was treating him like that is because I needed him to be tough in the playoffs and we’re facing the Indianas and Miamis and New Yorks in the Eastern Conference. He needed to be tough and I needed to know that I could count on him. And those are the kind of things where peo- ple see me acting the way I acted in practice, they’re not going to understand it.”
Jordan believes that being a jerk is sometimes the price of winning and leading.
“Look, winning has a price. And leadership has a price. So I pulled people along when they didn’t want to be pulled,” Jordan said in one of the series episodes. “I challenged people when they didn’t want to be chal- lenged. And I earned that right because my teammates who came after me didn’t en- dure all the things that I en- dured. Once you joined the team, you lived at a certain standard that I played the game. And I wasn’t going to take any less. Now if that means I had to go in there and get in your ass a little bit, then I did that.”
After signing Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers moved on from for- mer starting quarterback Jameis Winston, who re- mains a free agent.
Winston will probably have to wait until after the NFL draft to find a new home.
Oddsmakers have already started taking bets on where Winston will land. The Den- ver Broncos have the third- best odds of landing the 26-year-old quarterback, ac- cording to BetMGM.
With 8/1 odds, a $100 bet on Winston would win $800 if he ends up in Denver. We wouldn’t recommend tak- ing that bet, though.
Here’s a look at the 10 teams with the best odds of signing Winston:
1. Jacksonville Jaguars +240
2. Los Angeles Chargers +500
3. Denver Broncos +800
4. Pittsburgh Steelers +900
5. New England Patriots +1200
JAMEIS WINSTON
T-6. Miami Dolphins +1600
T-6. Atlanta Falcons +1600
T-8. Tennessee Titans +2000
T-8. New Orleans Saints +2000
10. Washington Redskins +2200
Move Over Tom Brady, Jameis Winston Has That GQ Look Going On
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady
isn’t just a star on the field. The six-time Super Bowl champion has also made a name for himself off of it, too, through his various business dealings and marriage to in- ternational supermodel and environmentalist Gisele Bundchen.
Tom Brady has gone from sixth-round after- thought to GQ cover boy over the course of his career. But, he may soon have some com- petition in that department.
Former Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston seems ready for his shot at the GQ cover. Winston, who has been working his tail off this offseason to stay game-ready for when a new NFL team comes calling, took to his In- stagram story again today to show off his new and im- proved physique. We still be- lieve the Bucs mortgaged the future for Brady (43 years- old) to put fans in the stands. We will see.
Meanwhile, Winston and Cam Newton are still waiting on a phone call. Un- believable!
