Woman Arrested In Fatal Stabbing
5 Arrested After Police Pursuit Involving Stolen Car

Police have arrested a 36- year-old woman and charged her with second-degree mur- der. The fatal stabbing took place early Tuesday.
According to the St. Peters- burg Police Department, po- lice received a call from a tenant at 3201 Burlington Av- enue shortly after 2 a.m. The male caller told police he caught a woman who was vis- iting his apartment in the bathroom doing drugs.

their way into the apartment. Once inside, they discovered the victim had been stabbed several times. Police adminis- tered first-aid, but the victim died as a result of his injuries.
The victim has been identi- fied as 73-year-old Rafiu Olorunnimbe Ashimi, of St. Petersburg.
Officers also found Ms. Tomeka Colin inside the apartment. She was taken into custody and charged with sec- ond-degree murder.
The investigation is contin- uing.
Two adults and three ju- veniles were arrested follow- ing a police chase shortly after midnight Sunday. The incident took place in the Davenport area.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered a stolen vehicle traveling on U. S. Highway 27 near Interstate 4. They followed the vehicle and confirmed it had been re- ported stolen in Tampa two days earlier.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver refused to stop and made an abrupt u-turn at Legacy Park Blvd., and U. S. Highway 27.
As the vehicle reached the Lakeland area, deputies de- ployed stop sticks, which de- flated both front tires of the vehicle. After the vehicle came to a stop, all five indi- viduals jumped out and fled on foot, police said.

Police Identify Body Found In Water

Earlier this week, a decom- posing body was discovered east of Vinoy Park. The St. Pe- tersburg Police Department has established the identity of the man.
Police have identified the person as 34-year-old Zachary Clouser of St. Pe- tersburg. Police said the Med- ical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. The investigation is continu- ing.

Alex Mills, 23, of St. Pe- tersburg, charged with con- spiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, and contributing to the delin- quency of a minor.
He was also charged with grand theft auto, fleeing to elude at a high rate of speed, and resisting arrest.
Daquan Sheppard, 19, of Seminole, was the driver of the stolen vehicle. He was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, and con- tributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Jamerrius Church, 17,
of St. Petersburg, was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and posses- sion of burglary tools.

Amiri Price, 17, of St. Petersburg, was charged with conspiracy to commit bur- glary and possession of bur- glary tools.

During the search of the vehicle, deputies found latex gloves and a headlamp in the stolen car. The suspects were also wearing latex gloves or attempting to discard them, police said.
Detectives believe the young men were in Polk County for the purpose of committing burglaries.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, “Not only are three of the suspects teenagers who shouldn’t be 0ut this late at night, our Governor is asking for people to stay at home during this pandemic.”

Teacher Arrested For Soliciting 14-Year-Old Student
A Hillsborough County teacher has been arrested and charged with having a roman- tic relationship with a student. The victim is a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the police were notified on April 15th, by the girl’s parents. The parents had noticed a change in her behavior and reviewed her cell phone activity. They discov- ered text messages to the girl from 35-year-old Daniel Gonzalez, a teacher at Jef- ferson High School.
The mother confronted the girl and she learned the rela- tionship was of a romantic na- ture.

police, Gonzalez allegedly admitted to having romantic feelings about the student and to kissing her on one occasion.
Gonzalez was charged with being an authority figure soliciting or engaging in a ro- mantic relationship with a student.
