Man On Scooter Killed In Traffic Accident
Three Seriously Injured In Traffic Accident
A 36-year-old Pinellas Park man was killed in a traf- fic accident Tuesday night. The accident was investi- gated by state police.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m., at County Road 296, west of 98th Street.
Shayne D. Murphy, 24, of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2008 Toyota SUV east- bound in the outside lane. Jesop I. Ash, 36, was rid- ing the Scooter in the same
direction in another lane. Murphy failed to observe Ash and collided with the rear portion of the Scooter. After the impact, the two ve- hicles came to rest with the back of the Scooter under the
front of the SUV.
After the crash, a fire
erupted and damaged both vehicles.
Ash was fatally injured and died at the scene. Mur- phy was not injured. The in- vestigation is continuing and charges are pending.
Three people were seri- ously injured in a traffic ac- cident early Wednesday morning. The accident oc- curred at the intersection of Dale Mabry Highway and Waters Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the acci- dent occurred around 5 a.m.
Nicholas Quinn Billings, 20, of New Port Richey, was driving a 2009 Toyota Yaris, and Ms. Maria Victoria Romero, 64, of Tampa, was driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima. Both drivers were traveling southbound on Dale Mabry
Highway.
Nigel Johnson Os- borne, 48, of Lutz, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Dale Mabry. Billings, who Florida Highway Patrol investiga- tors said was impaired by al- cohol, ran the red light and entered the intersection. As a result, the front of Ms. Romero’s vehicle struck the front of Billings’ vehi- cle.
Ms. Romero’s vehicle then propelled into the path of Osborne’s vehicle, and those two vehicles collided.
Osborne was trans-
ported to Florida Hospital of Carrollwood with serious in- juries. Ms. Romero and Billings were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Both were also listed in seri- ous condition.
There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
Billings was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with has been ar- rested for DUI serious bod- ily injury, DUI property damage, and reckless driv- ing.
The investigation is con- tinuing and charges are pending, officials said.
Wrong Way Accident Leaves Two In Serious Condition

The Florida Highway Pa- trol investigated a traffic ac- cident at approximately 12:40 a.m., Wednesday that left two people in serious condition.
The accident took place on E. Hillsborough Avenue, just west of N. 56th Street.
The investigators said Ms. Colonaii Bell, 33, of Tampa, was traveling west- bound in the eastbound lane in a 2008 Dodge Charger. Brian James Stanley, 44, also of Tampa, was driving a
2013 Dodge Caravan in the eastbound lane.
Ms. Bell was traveling in the wrong lane when the two vehicles crashed in a head- on collision. Ms. Bell and Stanley were both seriously injured as a result of the ac- cident.
Both were transported to Tampa General Hospital, where they were admitted, police said.
The investigation into the accident is continuing and charges are pending.
