Beginner Level - Team Activities Level 1 and Level 2

Players should be acquiring knowledge of the basic rules and goals of the game. Simply keep the
ball off the floor on my side, try to put the ball to the floor on the opponents' side. At this level, be
very hesitant to call ball handle violations unless they use poor skill to compensate for poor effort.

The focus at this level should be a high volume of ball contacts and movement. With that as the
goal, most of the play should have a focus on:
          Small court activities

 Divide the regulation court into 2-3 small courts

          Small team activity
             1v1, 2v2, 3v3

 These games can be scripted to work on

                    Every contact with forearms
 Every contact with the hands

                    3rd contact is a swing

                    No jump
                    Jump

          Mini-volleyball activities

 Reduce dimensions of the volleyball court (9m x 9m on one-half court) to those similar to a
badminton court (20' wide x 22' in length)
             4 players per side

             Play volleyball

                 Emphasis on 3 contacts

 Emphasis on the second contact with the hands
 Emphasis on 3rd contact an attack

          6v6 play on a regulation court

             Start with a serve
 The coach will toss in free balls after each rally to facilitate more contacts
