St. Jade’s Day
• Now in its 6th year the Women in
Engineering Scholarship in UL saw
the selection of Abbie O’Dwyer as
this year’s recipient.
• This year also saw the 2nd year of
the TUS Ei Electronics Ascent
Scholarship at TUS.
• Alex Murphy (Marketing) and Robyn
Kenny (Engineering) were this year’s
recipients of the Ei Electronics
Ascent Scholarships with TUS.
As part of Ei’s long-standing Kaizen culture, which has been firmly embedded
since the 1996, 2025 was no exception, with three major improvement events
conducted across both day and evening shifts.
The first event, held on the Ei606 line, delivered an impressive 11% efficiency
increase. This was followed by a 4% improvement on the Ei146e line, while the
Ei1020 and Ei170RF lines achieved gains of 7% and 3% respectively.

Following a product design brief set by Ei, UL students Rachela, James,
Niall and Siobhán – supported by their supervisor Vipul – developed
innovative concepts reimagining the future of Ei’s Smart Home
Technology Alarms as part of the Real World Studio project. Once the
project was completed, the team visited Ei to present their project and
showcase their ideas directly to the company.
