In May this year, to mark the first
anniversary of David Keating’s climb of
Mount Everest, Mick Guinee presented
David with a specially commissioned
painting depicting his final steps to the
summit of the world’s highest mountain.
Everest is no ordinary climb—the summit
is 8,849 metres (29,032 ft), above the
8,000 metre ’death zone’, where the air
is so thin that it takes several weeks of
acclimatization, achieved by ascending and
descending to higher and higher heights,
before attempting the summit. David left
for the climb on 31st March and didn’t
summit until 13th May!
The painting is by a well-known artist, Mick
O’Dea, who is from Ennis. Mick has done
portraits of well-known people, including
our recently retired President, Michael D.
Higgins. The painting was based on a
photograph of David taken by his sherpa
as David took those last few steps to the
summit of Mount Everest.
The painting was presented to David in
front of a crowded Bay 42. In making the
presentation, Mick Guinee said that the
Company was pleased to honour such a
unique achievement and it was appropriate
to do so in front of everyone in the factory.
The painting is now the pride of the place in
the Keating family home!
In 2025, our Production
Team Leads and Supervisors
completed a Level 8 Diploma in
High-Performance Leadership,
designed and delivered by
Career Decisions Ireland and
accredited by Technological
University Dublin (TUD).
This interactive and practical
course equipped participants
with advanced leadership skills,
enabling them to better navigate
daily operational challenges and
drive team performance.
The achievement reflects
Ei Electronics’ ongoing
commitment to investing in the
development and growth of its
people.
Congratulations to Fiona
Cosgrove, Kevin Hennesy,
Julija Bagaviciene, Claire Daly,

graduated, with the conferring
ceremony held at Dromoland
Castle, with the remaining
conferring sessions scheduled
to take place in 2026.
The Ei Group Sales Conference was held in Berchtesgaden in Bavaria in November and for the first evening of bonding and a casual dinner, the attendees
were dressed in Bavarian Lederhosen style!
