John passed away suddenly and peacefully at
University Hospital Limerick on 30th June 2024.
John spent his whole working life at Ei, joining
the original GE owned Company back in 1966
and then served Ei Electronics from March 1988
to his retirement on 8th July 2022.
John was one of the 50-year Service Awardees.
John worked in Auto Insertion/SMT from the
time of the very first Auto Insertion machine was
installed in 1983.
He was a marvellous colleague, and gave great
service in the many roles he served in over his
56- year career.
A big ‘Banner’ supporter, he passed away just days
before Clare won the 2024 All Ireland Hurling
Championship. No doubt he had influence!!
John met his wife Bridie in Ei and several
members of their family worked at Ei over the
years.
John is survived by his wife Bridie, daughters
Breda and Marie, sons Anthony, John and Padraig
and their families.

Tom passed away suddenly but peacefully on 19th
May 2024, just weeks after he left Ei Electronics.
A native of Castletownroche, Co. Cork, Tom
joined Ei Electronics as a Software Development
Engineer in R&D on 11th July 2017. Tom had
graduated from University of Limerick with a
first-class honours B.Sc. in Applied Physics in
2001.He also had a first-class honours B.Sc. in
Mathematics from U.L.
Of quiet disposition, Tom was a wonderful
colleague who contributed much during his short
time with us. He was primarily associated with the
Gateway product.
Tom is survived by his father Jackie, sisters,
Noreen and Joan and brother Richard and their
families.

Tony Kilkenny only retired from Ei in June
2018 after 40+ years’ service. A genial character,
Tony was QA Engineer in charge of Incoming
Inspection for many of those years. He was much
loved by everyone he worked with.
Originally from Waterford, he joined Ei
Electronics on 2nd March 1988 when the new
Company opened but his Ei service goes back
to 13th November 1978 when he joined as an
Electronics Technician in the original GE owned
Company.
Taking early retirement in 2018, Tony and his
wife Elizabeth made great use of their freedom,
travelling extensively and living for part of the
year in Lanzarote.
Tony died peacefully, after a long illness,
bravely borne, in the Milford Care Centre on
6th September 2024. He is survived by his wife
Elizabeth, brothers Mark and Kevin.

John passed away peacefully at his daughter’s
residence in Buncrana, Co. Donegal on 23rd June
2024.
John had a long association with Ei, going back
to the 1980’s when he worked as an I.T. Engineer
with Honeywell, and he helped maintain the
main-frame computer of that era.
He joined Ei in May 1994 in Engineering
Departing, working in the R&D Lab for Dr Mike
Byrne.
He retired from Ei in August 2022.
He was a great colleague, known for his sense of
humour and for his enthusiastic participation in
Sports & Social activities from 10 pin-bowling to
go-karting. He was a very active member of the
local model aircraft flying club.
John’s wife Jacquelyn predeceased him, and he
is survived by daughters Juliette, Catherine and
Elizabeth, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
