Speak softly
When you arrive at the burial site, keep your voices down. This is not the time to socialize or shot to the someone of the other side of the parking area.
Watch the funeral director
If you are ever in doubt about what to do, turn to the person coordinating the event for clues.
Encountering a funeral procession
As a driver, be aware of the signs that you are encountering a funeral procession. This is essential because you need to know how to show respect and honor the event. One of these days, you might find yourself participating, so follow the golden rule and treat the mourners the way you would want to be treated if you had just someone you cared about.
Here are some tips for showing respect for a funeral procession:
If you encounter cars with mourners, be polite, pull over and wait for them to pass before proceeding. You do not have to wait for the whole procession to pass. If limousines are in the procession wait for
them and maybe two more then proceed on your way.
Show respect by not honking your horn, revving your engine, or acting impatient in any way.
Do not join the procession. Do not cut the procession off in any way.
Cemetery Etiquette
When visiting a cemetery, there are a number of basic rules you should keep in mind in order to show respect to both the living and the dead. These tips will help make sure you and your fellow visitors enjoy a courteous, peaceful and respectful experience. Most cemeteries have a sign posted near the entrance listing rules specific to the property. Follow the rules and observe any floral regulations they may have set. Most cemeteries are open from dawn until dusk.
