Mortuary Science with his Embalmers and Funeral Director license. Gregg and Derek began purchasing the funeral business from their parents and eventually took over full ownership in 1996. Gregg is a member of the Medicine Hat Rotary Club, President of the Medicine Hat Bingo Association and in his spare time plays slowpitch and is a member of the Desert Blume Golf Course. He is married to Kathy and has one child.
Shelly Mayer
Funeral Director | Office Administrator
Shelly has worked in the office as the “director of first impressions” since 1985 and as a licensed Funeral Director since 1994.
She was born and raised in Medicine Hat and is married to Cal Mayer; together they have two grown sons who have added wonderful partners to our family. As a family, they have supported and been in involved in the community through sports and other personal interests.
Shelly is a breast cancer survivor and experienced nothing but care and support from her family and employers throughout the process. Through this journey she became passionate about dragonboating and is a member of the “Snapdragons”, a local ladies dragonboat team. Her longevity with the Pattison Funeral Home depicts her keen interest in people and helping families at a very vulnerable time.
Derek Martin
Embalmer | Funeral Director | Owner
Derek graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1983 and began working for his father at the funeral home. He graduated from the West School of Mortuary Science in 1986 with his Embalmers and Funeral Director license. Derek enjoys golfing, is a Past President and present Board Member of the Medicine Hat Musical Theatre. He gives freely of his time and resources in support of his involvements in the community. He is married to Kathy, has three children and two step daughters.
