         Steven tries to find something that stirs him in every painting, even if the subject matter is not his favorite.  Coming from Pennsyl-
         vania, he said, “I’m not a big boat person,” but harbor scenes are popular and may have interesting arrangements of color and shapes,
         light and shadow.  “Anything can make a beautiful subject if it’s done right,” he said.

         Faith is an important element of his art; he desires to share his personal vision of God’s creation.  “I believe God is the creator,” he
         said, “and we have His desire to create and be creative.”  By portraying the beauty, variety and complexity of what he sees, he wants
         “to not just point people to Steven Hileman, the artist, but to creation, to something bigger than me.”
