There are so many decisions you’ll face when you’re diagnosed with breast cancer. From lumpectomy to mastectomy, from reconstruction to going flat, every choice is deeply personal. I chose reconstruction, but I had no idea the emotional and physical toll it would take. No one tells you about the intense itching when you heal, or how Benadryl will become your new best friend. No one tells you how you’ll feel in those moments when it’s just you and the mirror.
Emotionally, breast cancer is a battlefield. You’ll face anger, fear, frustration, and sadness. And you’ll question, “Why me?” But let me tell you something: we women are warriors. You may not feel strong at first, but strength is there, deep inside you, waiting for the battle. It’s okay to feel whatever you feel. It’s okay to cry, to scream, to pray. But know this —you are stronger than you realize.
