Health Center, only objective of a doctor is
to dispose of the 200-250 patients in 4 hours!
Excessive political interference and reduced
time to spend with patients were always
frustrating there, but there is not much
adrenaline rush! The system will push us to
emotional exhaustion and reduced empathy
towards patients. The burnout has always

been present, but the pandemic has led to
its acceleration. COVID-19 was a deep, dark
trench we doctors endured while sacrificing
our own physical and mental health. I believe
physicians are quitting because we can't handle
our jobs. We’re quitting because we cannot
handle being unable to do our jobs properly.
I decided to do MPH (Masters in Public Health)
and switch my career. Laptop took the place
of stethoscope. Instead of stethoscopes and
CPAP, advocacy and epidemiological thinking
are their tools for improving the health of the
community. But still my heart beats for the
stethoscope with the small diaphragm!
