Read Across Texas:
A Summer Reading Program That’s “Not Just for Kids”
This summer the library will participate
in Read Across Texas, a program of the Texas Center for the Book and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Read Across Texas encourages challenging, insightful, and transformative conversations, using books to open dialogue and explore what “knowing your neighbor” might mean.
The book selected for this summer’s program is Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, by Gregory Boyle. The book is available at the library.
Saturday, June 15 at 10:00 AM.
Consider hosting/leading a book discussion out in the community!
Complimentary copies of the book are available for individuals who are willing to do this. Call the library at 210-659- 7048 to register for a one-hour training session on Saturday, June 15th.
Two community book discussions will be hosted in the library by members of the Universal City Book Club:
Tuesday, June 25 at Noon. Brown Bag Lunch, drinks provided. Wednesday, August 14 at 6 PM
Other book discussion opportunities will be announced in the library, on the City website, and on the library’s Facebook page.
