Bishop Maxim Visits St. Stephen Archdeacon and Protomartyr Serbian Orthodox Church
in Portland, Oregon
On the fourth Sunday of Great Lent, we had the blessing that our parish was visited by His Grace Bishop Maxim. The two-day visit
of our Bishop consisted of a conversation with the faithful, a lecture at the pan-Orthodox gathering in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and the service of the Divine Liturgy in our church of St. Archdeacon Stephen. Bishop Maxim spoke on the topic “Developing a Prayer Life while Living in the World.”
Bishop Maxim was assisted by Fr. John Suvak, parish priest of Eugene, Fr. Jovan Katanić, parish priest of Portland, protodeacon Fr. Stephen Dyer from Eugene and protodeacon Fr. Steven Bambaki- dis from the Antiochian Orthodox Church. At the
Divine Liturgy, a large number of children and adults received Holy Communion, after which we contin- ued in the church hall with lunch prepared by our parish Circle of Serbian Sisters.
