the little ant
Lord of the humble,
Make me like that tiny, tiny ant, the infinitesimal
one, that lives its life as if it doesn’t exist and has no
grand ideas about itself.
When someone underestimates me, remind me of
the little ant, so I don’t think I’ve received some …
great insult and pretend my … dignity is wounded.
In a large fresco of the “Last Judgment,” I saw,
opposite the kings and generals heading toward hell,
a small blessed figure labeled “the least.”
I beseech you, Lord, save me from all ambition and
arrogance.
You brought me into existence from nonexistence to
enjoy the Miracle, not for me to perform miracles.
I thank you, I am grateful to you, and I glorify you.
