            Benefits of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a publication is prototypically a composition of such great length that it
requires a considerable investment of time to compose and a still significant, though not so
extensive, investment of time to browse. In the restricted sense, a publication is a self-sufficient
section or part of a longer composition, a use that reflects the fact that, in antiquity, long functions
had to be written on several scrolls, and each scroll had to be identified by the book it contained.
Therefore, for instance, each part of Aristotles Physics is called a book. In the unrestricted sense, a
book is your compositional whole of which these segments, whether called chapters or books or
            parts, are parts.

The intellectual content in a tangible book does not need to be a composition, nor even be called a
novel. Books can consist only of drawings, engravings, or photos, or such matters as crossword
puzzles or cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages can be left blank or may contain an abstract
set of lines as support for ongoing entries, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a laptop, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily publications are created with
pages thick and sturdy enough to encourage other physical objects, like a record or photograph
album. Books may be distributed in digital form as e-books along with other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance that a monograph is known to be a professional academic
work, rather than a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph describes more broadly any non-serial publication complete in 1 volume (book) or a
finite number of volumes (a publication like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), in
contrast to sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. Books can also be sold
everywhere. Books may also be borrowed from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010,
roughly 130,000,000 different titles were released. In some wealthier nations, the sale of printed
books has decreased due to the increased use of e-books.

In the 2000s, as a result of rise in availability of cheap handheld computing devices, the
opportunity to share texts via digital means became an appealing alternative for media publishers.
Thus, the"e-book" was made. The expression e-book is a contraction of"electronic book"; it
pertains to some book-length publication in digital form. An e-book is generally made available
through the world wide web, but also on CD-ROM and other forms. E-Books might be read either
via a computing device with an LED screen such as a conventional computer, a smartphone or a
tablet pc; or by means of a portable e-ink screen device known as an e-book reader, such as the
Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers
attempt to mimic the experience of reading a print publication by employing this technology,
because the displays on e-book readers are much less reflective.
