            Benefits of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a publication is prototypically a composition of such great length that it
requires a substantial investment of time to compose and a still considerable, though not so
extensive, investment time to read. In the restricted sense, a publication is a self-sufficient section
or part of a longer composition, a usage that reflects the simple fact that, in antiquity, long works
needed to be written on several scrolls, and every scroll had to be identified by the book it
included. Therefore, for instance, each part of Aristotles Physics is referred to as a book. In the
unrestricted sense, a book is the compositional whole of that these segments, whether known as
chapters or books or parts, are parts.

The academic material in a physical publication does not need to be a makeup, nor even be called
a novel. Novels can consist just of drawings, engravings, or photographs, or such matters as
crossword puzzles or cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages can be left blank or can feature
an abstract set of lines as support for continuing entries, e.g., an account book, an appointment
book, an autograph book, a laptop, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily books are created out
of pages thick and sturdy enough to encourage other physical objects, like a record or picture
album. Books could be distributed in digital form as e-books along with other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance a monograph is known to be a professional academic work,
instead of a reference work on a single scholarly topic, in library and information science
monograph describes more broadly any non-serial book complete in one volume (publication ) or a
finite number of volumes (even a publication like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time),
compared to sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. Novels can also be sold
elsewhere. Books may also be borrowed from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010,
approximately 130,000,000 distinct titles had been published. In some wealthier countries, the sale
of printed books has decreased due to the increased use of e-books.

In the 2000s, due to the rise in availability of affordable handheld computing devices, the
opportunity to share texts through electronic means became an attractive alternative for media
publishers. Thus, the"e-book" was made. The term e-book is a contraction of"electronic book"; it
pertains to some book-length publication in digital form. An e-book is usually made available
through the world wide web, but also on CD-ROM and other forms. E-Books may be read either via
a computing device with an LED screen such as a conventional computer, a smartphone or a
tablet computer; or by way of a portable e-ink display device called an e-book reader, like the Sony
Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or even the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers
attempt to mimic the experience of reading a print book by employing this technology, since the
displays onto e-book readers are much less reflective.
