Location:
The governorate is bordered in the East by Assiut Eastern
Mountain and the Red Sea governorate, in the West by Assiut
Western Mountain and the New Valley governorate, in the North
by Menia governorate, and by Souhag governorate in the South.
The Governorate's national day:
18th April that commemorates popular resistance against French
occupation in 1799.
Total area: 25926.00 Km2.
Emblem: It shows Salah el-Din vulture that symbolizes power,
surrounded by an olive tree branch which is the symbol of peace.
