Dakahlia Governorate







               Dakahlia  Governorate  is  considered  the  base  of  the  Nile  Delta;

               and one of the oldest governorates of Egypt. It was named so after

               Dakahla  village,  an  old  village  that  lies  currently  in  Al-  Zarqa

               Region Markaz, in Damietta governorate.

               Dakahlia  celebrates  its  National  Day  on  May  7  every  year,
               which marks the anniversary of the victory of Mansoura on the


               Crusade and capturing of King Louis IX, King of France in 1250.





               Emblem:


               It contains two branches of leaves as a symbol of agriculture; it

               also includes a gear of a machine as a symbol of industry in the

               governorate.
