A harmonious and collaborative program-community relationship is a major
factor in the life of an extension program. The community is invited to participate in the
planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of activities, as well as sourcing of
funds and other resources. Cooperation and responsiveness are evident among the
college’s extension clientele.
o Adopt -A-Barangay Modality Program: A Community Outreach and
Volunteerism Approach
In its desire to develop a more relevant and effective modality and
strategy/approach, ISU has conceptualized the “Adopt-A-Barangay
Program/Approach” integrating the BIDANI model in 1999. The program is an
integrated, inter-college extension strategy/approach towards transforming selected
poor pilot barangay into a self-reliant, empowered, and progressive community.
o Gender and Development Program
Gender and Development Program is designed to recognize the equal
contribution of women and men in all aspects of development. The perspective
involves searching for innovations that help transform unequal gender relations into
opportunities that equal and equitably benefit both men and women.
o Community Outreach and Support Services
This program aims to empower partner agencies by providing technical
assistance, consultancy, and other support services in the form of training, technology
promotion, and production of IEC materials.
