the good, and the death and the evil.” This seems to imply that man has
 free rein to choose good or evil.

 Regarding the natural order of events, man has no free choice whatsoever.
 He cannot decide when day will come, and what the weather will be. The
 only thing in his control is his level of yirat Shamayim. He alone is
 responsible for his spirituality. Chazal state, “All is in the hands of Heaven
 except for the fear of Heaven.” For this reason, we are told, “Choose life.”













 “These are the journeys of the Children of
 Israel who went forth from the land of Egypt
 according to their legions, under the hand of
 Moshe and Aharon”

 (Bamidbar 33:1)

 “And the Egyptians were burying those among
 them  whom  Hashem  had  struck,  every
 firstborn; and on their gods Hashem had
 inflicted punishments”
