If one’s yetzer hara gains control over him, he should learn Torah. If this
does not help, he should recite the Shema. If this does not help, he should
recall the day of death. Torah is the antidote to the yetzer hara; how can
it prove ineffective against it? Moreover, Shema is a portion of the Torah.
