More than 15 Co-authored articles and proceedings featuring research on susta-
inability, economic transition, tourism development, peace marketing, food and
agribusiness marketing, quality of life and well-being, and marketing and public
policy -- some of which are widely cited and have re-oriented the marketing discipline,
business practice and policy. Service to the academy as Conference Co-Chair of the
25th Annual Macromarketing Confernce, Lovran Croatia, 2000; Conference Co-Chair,
International Symposium on Marketing Development and Transition Economies, Opatija,
Croatia, 1997, and numerous tasks and presentations at conferences sponsored by
CROMAR, the American Marketing Association, the International Society of Marketing
and Development, the Macromarkeitng Society, the International Society of Quality of
Life Studes, and other scholarly communities, indeed, too many organizations and
places to list.
In addition to the aforementioned contributions, Professor Grbac has a lasting
legacy. He has helped to cultivate and grow a macromarketing ethos – a belief that
marketing is a societal function intended to improve the human condition, inclusi-
vely, justly and sustainably over time and place – in Croatia and around the world.
On this journey, he has mentored and nurtured students and junior scholars, some 195
of whom now thrive in their own careers and continue to champion macromarke-
ting. Professor Grbac moreover was/is a splendid represenative of the University of
Rijeka and ambassador for Croatia, whether organizing and co-chairing important
international academic events in Croatia or participating in them around the world.
Lastly, he was/is a cherished friend who has not only helped to shape the academy,
marketing practice and public policy, he also has helped to shape the lives of innu-
merable students and colleagues, and to improve the well-being of local and global
citizens. Truly, I am honored to call Professor Bruno Grbac friend, colleague and Bruno Grbac - Autoportret
co-author, and I am grateful for our shared achievements and contributions.
