message

On behalf of The Town of Aurora and Aurora Town Council, I would like
to thank the Aurora Chamber of Commerce for the outstanding work it
does to continuously support and cultivate our community’s business
sector. Aurora is a vibrant and growing town. We have a well-educated
and skilled workforce. We are also surrounded by diversity and culture.
Our town is interconnected with various transportation methods making
it easy to get to and from Toronto.
As a past President of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and former
business owner, I embrace the important process of growing a business
and community. I appreciate the critical role of business in Aurora and
the need to create strong partnerships to achieve success.
The Town of Aurora is committed to growth and progression in our
community. One of the exciting projects coming to fruition this year is
the redevelopment of our downtown core. Aurora’s historic four corners is under construction,
which will bring an influx of new residents and commercial space.
Our Community Improvement Plan is now in effect in the Aurora Promenade, including a suite of
financial incentives to encourage landowners and tenants to revitalize downtown Aurora. This helps
us move towards our vision of this area as a compact, pedestrian-friendly hub of activity.
We are also exploring other new opportunities for development. From our historic core to our newest
housing developments, our community continues to grow in the northeast part of Town, near Leslie
Street and St. John’s Sideroad. The flourishing growth in that area will generate new business
opportunities and in a few years attract approximately 8,000 new residents.
The Aurora Chamber of Commerce is a valued partner in promoting, attracting and keeping our
businesses prosperous. Working together, The Town of Aurora and the Aurora Chamber of Commerce
provide an ideal place to live and grow a business. The advantages of doing business in Aurora are
many and the potential for success is real.
I look forward to strengthening and continuing our beneficial partnership as we move forward with
our continued strategic initiatives and development.

Sincerely,

Mayor Geoffrey Dawe
