CRISPR: Genome editing, also called gene editing, is a group of technologies that give scientists the ability to allow genetic material to be added, removed, or altered at particular locations in the genome. The most recent genome editing that has been developed is CRISPR-Cas9 (associated with protein 9)—a faster, cheaper, more accurate and more efficient genome editing method than other existing editing methods.
WHAT IS CRISPR?
21
CRISPR is opening new doors in the therapeutic space, allowing scientists to turn genes on and off and conduct experiments to understand how different mutations are expressed. Ultimately, CRISPR may extend to other applications beyond drug the therapies to disease prevention. (Healthcare 2025, 2035, Nikhil, Krishman, 10/10/18)
