business, they could not repay the laons. Rumah Zakat should find
ways to address these barriers.
Indonesia social work practice gives little attention to the need
for increasing amounts of zakat and other voluntary gifts. Its should
advocate for enhanced legislation that facilitares Muslims in
fulfilling their social, religious and economics obligations to those
who are unfortunate. Acceptance of the present zakat institutions is
increasing over time as the institutions become trustworthy
intermediaries between donors and recipients. Indonesian social
work practice should become more involved in promoting voluntary
and zakat giving because social work must advocate for the
enhancement of living conditions of the poor and the destitute
(Clark, 2001). Indonesian social work practice can play a significant
role in collaborating with zakat institutions to help the poor and
other vulnerable populations. Indonesian social workers may
develop best practices for the zakat system when they become aware
that zakat institutions are not transparent in their zakat management
(Lessy, 2009).
Rumah Zakat has made the utilization of zakat in the form of
empowerment, i.e Senyum Juara (education), Senyum Sehat
(health) Senyum Mandiri (economic empowerment) and Senyum
Lestari (environment)
