            Benefits of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a book is prototypically a makeup of such great length that it requires a
substantial investment of time to write and a still significant, though not so comprehensive,
investment time to read. In the limited sense, a book is a self-sufficient section or portion of a
longer article, a usage that reflects the simple fact that, in antiquity, long works needed to be
written on several scrolls, and each scroll had to be identified by the book it contained. So, for
example, each component of Aristotles Physics is called a book. From the unrestricted sense, a
publication is the compositional whole of that these sections, whether known as books or chapters
            or parts, are parts.

The intellectual content in a physical book need not be a composition, nor be called a book. Books
can consist only of drawings, engravings, or photographs, or such matters as crossword puzzles or
cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages may be left blank or can contain an abstract set of
outlines as support for continuing entries, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a notebook, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily publications are made with
pages thick and sturdy enough to support other physical objects, like a scrapbook or picture album.
Books may be distributed in digital form as e-books and other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance that a monograph is known to be a specialist academic
work, instead of a reference work on a single scholarly topic, in library and information science
monograph denotes more broadly any non-serial book complete in 1 volume (publication ) or a
finite number of volumes (a novel like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), compared to
serial publications like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. Novels can also be sold elsewhere.
Google has estimated that as of 2010, roughly 130,000,000 different titles were released. In some
wealthier nations, the selling of printed books has decreased because of the increased use of e-
            books.

In the 2000s, due to the rise in availability of cheap handheld computing devices, the opportunity to
share texts via electronic means became an appealing option for media publishers. Thus, the"e-
book" was created. The term e-book is a contraction of"electronic book"; it refers to a book-length
book in digital form. An e-book is usually made accessible through the internet, but also on CD-
ROM along with other forms. E-Books may be read either via a computing device with an LED
display such as a traditional computer, a smartphone or a tablet pc; or by means of a mobile e-ink
screen device known as an e-book reader, such as the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo
eReader, or even the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers attempt to mimic the experience of reading a
print publication by employing this technology, since the displays onto e-book readers are much
            less reflective.
