      Festivals  are  an  expressive way  to  celebrate  our  culture  and  tradition.  It  unites

      people and brings joy and happiness to us. Dussehra is one of the most important

      festivals in India. It is celebrated for ten days and it is also called as the ‘Festival of
      Dolls’. We celebrate this festival to signify the victory of good over evil. Children

      of pre-primary were dressed in traditional attire and the facilitators conveyed the

      significance of Dussehra.

      Mamatha  Raviprakash  at  her  residence  that  comprised  of  the  Pattada  Gombe,

      Dashavatara,  Goddess  Durga  and  many  more.  Children  were  very  happy  and

      excited to see the arrangement of dolls. The facilitators spoke about the various

      poojas performed like the Kanya pooja, Banni pooja, etc. They also spoke about the
      Dussehra  celebrations  conducted  in  the  AOL  Ashram  where  a  series  of  homas,

      pujas and chanting of shlokas are carried out for ten days. Information about the 10-

      day celebration that takes place in Mysore was also given.
      The  facilitators  of  PP1  and PP3 sang  the  bhajan  “Durge  Durge  Jai Jai  Maa”  and

      chanted  the  shloka  “Prathamam  shailaputhri  Cha”  respectively.  A  video  about

      Dussehra was also shown to the children. Children understood the importance of

      the festival and the sanctity behind it. This was followed by activities like making of
      dolls  and  ‘Jamboo  Savari’  wall  hangings.  Children  made  the  dolls  with  a  lot  of

      excitement and enthusiasm.
