Activity: Narration of folktales of Uttarakhand
“The folktale is the primer of the picture-language of the soul”
An activity was assigned to the students where they had to narrate folktales of Uttarakhand. Folktales
play an important role in the overall development of students especially during their childhood days.
These tales help them to study diverse cultures, adapt positive character traits and develop a sense
of moral behaviour. The students narrated the folktales of Uttarakhand with great enthusiasm and
interest. The props prepared by them were extraordinary and their expressions while narrating the
story were commendable. The children dressed themselves in traditional Uttarakhand attire. This
activity was conducted as a part of the CBSE initiative “Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat” where the students
learnt more about the culture, traditions, social life and customs of Uttarakhand.
