Lobbying











                              Lobbying is defined as “attempting to influence legislation” (e.g. contacting or urging the public to
                              contact a legislative body for the purpose of supporting or rejecting legislation



                              Absolute Prohibition against nonprofits intervening in political campaigns




                              Lobbying can have a vital role in fulfilling your CAAs mission




                              Nonpartisan voter education activities are not considered campaign intervention


                               Nonprofits can engage in lobbying if it does not constitute a substantial part of the organization’s
                              activities


                              Board members are volunteers and not paid by the nonprofit. Board members can exercise their civic
                              right to help the CAA influence legislation
