History of 6σ?
• Carl Friedrich Gauss was a German
mathematician and physicist who lived in
the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
• He worked on statistics and the
probability theory that laid the
foundation for many of the statistical
methods and tools used in Six Sigma
today.
• One of Gauss's most important
contributions to statistics is the concept
of the normal distribution, also known as
the Gaussian distribution.
