     FAMILY, FRIENDS, FELLOWSHIP, FUN



                              A FUN-FILLED FAMILY DAY


     On August 19, 2023, Lions and supporters from Brooklyn & Queens were blessed with
     perfect  weather.    Under  the  new  leadership  of  DG  Antonio  Robles,  we  celebrated  the
     beginning of the Lionistic year with families and friends at  Roy Wilkins Park in Queens,
     New York.


     Special guests included Lion Donarie Fenton, Chairperson for the District Breast Cancer
     Committee,  and  representatives  from  The  American  Cancer  Society,  who  distributed
     educational literature to raise awareness about breast cancer.   New York State Senator

     Leroy Comrie, (14  Senatorial District of Queens) and a Charter Member of St. Albans
     Lions Club stopped by to thank the Lions for choosing Roy Wilkins Park to celebrate this
     community event.  He stated that the park was recently renovated and now has full-time
     park police and other Parks Department maintenance staff.


      The  children  and  the  adults  participated  in  various  games  and  sports  led  by  Lion
     Rayboyd Stennett and his assistant, Lion Sandrina Kingston.  Activities included lime and
     spoon  races,       tennis,  soccer,  kite  flying,  hula  hoop  dancing,  and  a  limbo  dance
     competition, which was a big hit.       It was such a beautiful but hilarious sight to see the
                                                                                     while their canes/
     “seniors” dance under the limbo stick to the rhythm of “Limbo Rock”
     All winners were presented with medals and gifts by District Governor Antonio Robles.

      KUDOS TO LION KEITH OCTOBER!!!
      There were approximately 300 individuals at the picnic, and Lion Keith ensured that the
     park  remained  clean  throughout  the  day.  There  were  various  tasty  dishes  and  cold
     drinks, wonderful fellowship, much laughter, and awesome dance music supplied by DJ
     “Aubrey.”  District Governor Antonio showed off his special moves as he danced at the
     head of the moving conga line and belted the call, “Follow the Leader.”  The Lions did
     not hesitate to follow their new leader.

     District  Governor  Antonio  thanked  the  planning  committee  and  the  participants  for  a
     memorable day.  He encouraged all to unite as we serve our community and each other.
     Lion Adina Callendar, Campaign Manager, Lion Maureen Thomas, Event Chairperson, and
     Lion Shirley Alexander-Carmino, Committee Co-Chair  expressed their gratitude to all the
     generous contributors.
