                                  Update Their Story

Club members are committed to pour kindness into the distressed sections of their community, with financial support, quality time
     and service from the heart.
During November and December, Lions donated men’s jeans, women’s clothing, coats and personal care items from Mary Kay
Skincare Company to the Brooklyn Adult Learning Center. These were distributed to refugees from all over the world who were
bussed into New York City. . (See photo) It was a worthy challenge to find clothing/coats for men who were small bodied.
Another noteworthy project was “Crochet for a Cause”. Every Saturday, Lions team with women from the community, to learn the
necessary skills to create winter accessories. To date, 150+ baby blankets and hats were designed and donated to local providers at
pediatric medical care facilities. Non-Lion volunteers also collaborated to crochet hats and scarves for the refugees. (See photo).
All volunteers were gifted with energizing foot lotions and socks as a token of appreciation for their service.

To activate and promote interest about the importance of heart health, Lions will crochet red knitted hats for preemies and infants, in
February 2024. These will be donated to local medical facilities.

On Christmas Day, while visiting Liberia, a Lion member distributed care packets containing bleach, gloves and canned food to
patients in a rural hospital. She reported that they were so thankful for those simple small items and she felt the joy of service. (See

In partnership with The Knights of Columbus, Lions helped to raise funds to purchase 300 turkeys and chickens. These were
donated during Thanksgiving, to the Community Care Food Pantry Inc. in Brooklyn. This weekly program serves over 300 people of
all nationalities. Donations of infant diapers and hygiene products are always welcome.
The club president, who is a recognized author, has a community focus on projects that support literacy development and
     environmental conservation.
