Thoughts of Syria conjured up strange images of a forbidden territory. What better way to dispel demons of fear than to wander alone through the maze of darkened alleys. What rewards! The Old City of Damascus is bejeweled in a manner that even the President is not at liberty to enjoy. I have
come to value my privileges and simple freedom of movement.
Something that cannot be taken for granted any more.
