Abdeen sits, as if for centuries, inside his little dye store. Waiting for customers? More likely a spectator with a front seat
in a fascinating theatre.
I had already heard about the courtyard to the Ommayad Mosque. My sense of anticipation was emphasised as I lingered
at the entrance, peeping in with excitement.
