     Lapp knot
Knots often work best when combined. Tie an angler’s (perfection) loop (see
110–111) in one end of a waist tie, and the ideal companion to it will be the Lapp knot, so called
because Lapps have been seen to tether reindeer with it. Not only does it have a slipknot or
drawloop, but, when this is tugged, the knot falls apart without further fiddling (unlike many
  other so-called quick-release knots).
Lay the unknotted end on top of the loop made by the angler’s loop (1), wrap it around (2), and
tuck a bight over itself and down through the loop (3). Pull the end (4) to release the knot.
