van het voornemen van
de overheid van St. Maar-
ten om de persvrijheid
aan banden te leggen.
Vanwege het belang van
persvrijheid en de vrij-
heid van meningsuiting,
heeft de Amigoe besloten
het stuk integraal over te
nemen.

De maat is

ONLANGS KREEG ik onder
ogen een brief van de heer
Ruben Suriel aan een zekere
mr. Roelof Bijkerk. Afgezien
devol stijl- en typfouten zit,
terwijl de zinsbouw aan alle
kanten rammelt – waardoor
de leesbaarheid danig wordt
belemmerd – bleek deze brief
ook inhoudelijk een herha-
ling te zijn van al de stront,
die uit zijn strot vloeit wan-
neer hij zijn mond opendoet.
Er schijnt voor hem geen be-
langrijker onderwerp te zijn
dan allerlei leugens en halve
waarheden omtrent Schotte
te moeten vertellen. Dat juist
de heer Suriel het lef heeft om
anderen van alles en nog wat
te beschuldigen – waar nota
bene geen bewijs voor schijnt
te bestaan – wil hij nu de on-
mogelijkheid tot vervolging op
het OM afwentelen. Wanneer
ik zeg juist hij, dan doe ik dat
omdat ik weet dat meneer
Suriel zelf niet brandschoon
is. Ik bedoel dat iedereen wel
eens wat heeft uitgehaald,
wat wij onder de term jeugd-
zonde kunnen categoriseren.
Misschien denkt Suriel dat ik
zijn verleden niet ken. Als hij
dat wil uittesten, dan is hij bij Amerikanen te bescher-
mij meer dan welkom. Kenne-
lijk heeft meneer Suriel zelf
niet alles afgedekt.
Van de laatste twee alinea’s
van genoemde brief kon ik
geen wijs worden. Het lijkt in
de verte op Nederlands, maar
het is niet met zekerheid te
zeggen wat het nou precies is.
Het valt echt niet onder één
der talen die ik een beetje be-
heers. Wellicht is dat ook een
reden, dat het OM de heer Su-
riel niet schijnt te begrijpen.
Bedenk ook dat iemand we-

volgd en ik hoop van harte,
dat de heer Schotte als direct
belanghebbende dat ook gaat
beseffen en daartoe de nodige
maatregelen neemt.
Ik adviseer de heer Suriel
heel serieus om nu maar eens
op te houden om voor hemzelf
erger te voorkomen. Je hebt al
genoeg kwaad aangericht en
dit is je laatste kans om goed-
schiks tot inkeer te komen. Je
hoeft niet eens je excuses aan
te bieden, want dat zal toch
niemand au serieus nemen.
