“Our designer brought together both tropical and modern elements to create a design that is
spacious, airy and welcoming,” remarks General Manager Peter van Grinsven. “We opened up
the lobby and improved the flow in and through the resort as well as created additional spaces
that offer more to do and places to gather. By doing so we achieved our goal in refreshing our
look, but also maintaining our warm community feel and the distinctive charm, yet upscale
nature of the Playa Linda.”
Function plays a big role in the new lobby design, with the check-in desks angled to offer an
immediate welcome to guests. Additional amenities now include check-in kiosks, luggage
storage room and multi-functional space for meetings, activities and events. The use of light
colors, clean lines and new furnishings add to the modern landscape, which incorporates and
blends well with the pool and beachside views. The result is a lobby that is meant to draw
people in, to relax around the lobby bar, and invite with the promise of cool drinks and warm
conversation.
This recent renovation follows up on last year’s introduction of a completely new pool deck, and
the construction of an additional pool. And while regular upgrades occur on a scheduled basis,
Playa Linda will undertake another major move next year in refreshing all of its studio, one
bedroom and two bedroom suites, helping to improve on an already winning design. Behind the
scenes, innovations are also being made in the security system, with upgraded cameras and
the key lock system.
“We like to stay ahead of the game. We are not just making the Playa Linda more attractive, but
we are upgrading all our facilities,” explains General Manager Peter van Grinsven. “If you ask
any of our members and guests, it is their love for Aruba, the people and the Playa Linda that
has endeared a regular return to the island each year. With the new changes, we are building
upon our success of the last 35 years, and ensuring we continue to welcome generations of
guests for years to come.”
