Meet our new weekly columnist Shanella Pantophlet
Aruban born and bred ShanellaPantophlet (29) is pas-
sionate about tourism. That is the world she studied and
works in, so we might as well call her a specialist. Luckily
for Aruba Today Shanella also loves to write. And togeth-
er with the fact that the majority of our readers are tour-
ists, we found ourselves a perfect combination for a new
column: Hotel Hustle.
Shanella: “I have lived here my whole life, but my mother
made sure that my brother and I were well travelled from
a young age. I love Aruba and learning about its history
and how we got to where we are today. I work hard and
play hard, always making sure to balance my career with
the things I love doing. Oh I am also an introvert, who
works in tourism (my mother is still shocked, that her shy
daughter works in such a public job).”
Shanella studied Hospitality Management at Colegio
EPI: Hotel & Tourism sector, she also lived in Australia for
a year. Since 2010 Shanella has worked for Casa del Mar
where she was promoted from front desk to Reservations
Supervisor. In 2014 she won a Young Professional Shoco
Award. Her hobbies include writing, travelling, watching
documentaries and hanging out with friends. Reading
and learning are must-do for our fresh columnist.
