Aruban tennis players Alexson Hessels and
Frederick Sydow win gold medal
TENNIS athletes Alexson Hessels and Frederick Sydow recently competed in the
JITIC 2015 which was hosted by the Dominican Republic, they competed in the
U-14 category.
The Aruban duo did extremely well in the doubles competition, where they
achieved the first place and snatched the champion title.
The Aruban duo beat the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and then again
the Dominican Republic in the knock out rounds. In the grand finale
they had to compete against Guatemala and managed to beat the Gua-
temalan duo Dominguez and Taracena with a 6 to 2 and 7 to 5 score.
Also very nice is that both Hessels and Sydow did extremely well in
their individual games, both ranked 1st place in their rankings.
The Tennis Federation has surely had a good half year, since their
tennis athletes have conquered many important titles in our region.
Especially the male tennis players stood out this season, due to their
triumphs in the Junior Davis Cup tournament and the Junior Tennis
Competition where they ended up in first place and second place.
The Tennis Federation is extremely thankful to the Funding Commission
for funding the delegations’ trip to the JITIC 2015 Championship in the Do-
minican Republic.
