The Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium
welcomes the first national team game
IN the heart of the Dakota neighborhood, a
stadium that had long lacked maintenance is
once again welcoming the first national team
game of Aruba after a beautiful phase of renova-
tion and renewed enthusiasm to continue using
this facility for various sports and for all ages of
our athletes. The stadium is not yet completely
ready, but it will soon shine in all its glory again
to provide better opportunities for our athletes
and our people.
On Saturday, October 14, after 7 years, the Aruba
national team was able to play in Aruba again at
the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium. Since
2016, Aruba’s football teams could not play offi-
cial FIFA home games in Aruba due to the condi-
tions of the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium
not meeting the necessary standards. Despite
challenging times, the Wever-Croes II govern-
ment managed to secure the necessary funding
to invest in the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad
Stadium, and the first game of the Concacaf
Nations League Men’s Selection of Aruba vs.
the Virgin Islands took place, even though the
stadium was not yet fully completed.
During the opening of this first game at the
Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium, an enthu-
siastic audience gave a resounding applause,
reminding us that our love for sports can trans-
form not only a place but also the spirit of an
entire community. With every game played in
this stadium, we are nurturing the dreams of
our children, creating a future where strength,
teamwork, and determination guide us toward
a better nation. In the arena of sports, we find
unity, inspiration, and the promise of a brighter
future.
Former Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes congratu-
lates Aruba on the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad
Stadium, which will soon be completely reno-
vated, and expresses gratitude to the Minister of
Sports, Endy Croes, for his vision and determi-
nation to provide this opportunity to our sports.
Congratulations to Aruba on the victory with a
score of 3-1 against the Virgin Islands, putting
Aruba at the top of the group.
