Denim Day NYC
New York/Oranjestad - She took on a 313-
mile journey by foot from Trump Towers to
the White House to raise awareness about
sexual harassment last December. That’s
how Karin Bosman from The Netherlands
got in contact with Denim Day New York
City.
The Denim Day NYC Campaign is an in-
ternational movement that every year in
April, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness
Month, stands in solidarity with advocates
around the world to raise awareness about
sexual violence. One of the people who
advocates against sexual harassment is
Bosman of AWH, www.aboutworkplaceha-
rassment.com. She is active on Curacao, St.
Maarten as well as Aruba with her founda-
tion. This January Bosman was in Curacao
to cooperate on the initiative legislation
sexual harassment in the workplace with
the local Parliament. She also held several
awareness sessions on workplace harass-
ment including one for the Central Bank of
Curacao and St. Maarten.
What Can You Say
When Bosman returned to NYC after that
313 miles Denim Day NYC asked if she
would like to participate with their project
‘What Can You Say’ ‘What Can You Do’.
For this project DDNYC collaborated with
BK Style Foundation and The Chi Group, this
April they will present its first ever coffee ta-
ble book which showcases photographs of
survivors with messages that celebrate their
experiences and also raises awareness to
support survivors. Besides her picture and
story in this book, Karin now is also ambas-
sador representing ‘What Can You Say’ in
the Netherlands.
The Rally of DDNYC will be held on April
25 and starts in Brooklyn, Karin will also be
present to support this event with a small
speech and of course for the launch of the
coffee table book. DDNYC is still looking for
sponsors to make sure this book will be a
worldwide statement against sexual ha-
rassment. It’s great that we have this Sex-
ual Assault Awareness month in April but
let’s not forget, to combat against sexual
harassment, this topic should be on every
agenda 365 days a year, Bosman claims.
