AVB declares THE Aruban Football Association (AVB) states
confidence vote invalid
that the no-confidence motion submitted by a few
ARUBA TRAVELLER - Monday, August 10 2015 clubs against the clubs management was not valid
and therefore this motion cannot be discussed at
the General Assembly. After this nine clubs left the
meeting, the twelve remaining football clubs then
chose two new board members.
Present at the meeting was FIFA/ CONCACAF ob-
server Marco Leal present (FIFA is the international
football federation, CONCACAF is the Caribbean
federation), he was invited by the AVB to ensure
proper conduct during the meeting. According to
AVB, Leal has announced that the meeting went
“according to protocol and in accordance with the
rules.”
AVB mentioned that at the beginning of the meet-
ing, SV Universal football club motioned to move
agenda item 6 (vote of no confidence) to agenda
item 2. The club was backed by RCA and Caravel.
When Chairman Richard Dijkhoff decided not to
do that, the three clubs left the meeting in protest.
Also River Plate, La Fama, Bubali, Real Koyari,
Brazil Juniors Unistars and walked away, a total
of nine clubs. The remaining twelve clubs were
Arsenal, Sport Boys, Britannia, RCS, Dakota, Young
Aruba, UNDESA, JTL, Sporting, Estrella, United
and Caiquetio. The meeting continued with these
clubs present.
Motion not valid
AVB explains that according to the Federal regula-
tions (Article 15.2, ed.) the chairman has the right
to determine the agenda. Dijkhoff took the decision
not to postpone the censure motion and previously
put on the agenda because the board noticed an
authenticity problem when receiving the document,
making the document not valid and thus the vote of
mistrust could not be considered. The letter could
be seen as an incoming document. That status was
also discussed at the AGM, with the twelve remain-
ing clubs. They indicated that it did not correspond
to the letter they had received by the AVB to sign.
The date of the signatures did not correspond with
the date on the “motion of censure”. The remaining
clubs informed AVB at this meeting that the signa-
tures date from a date earlier than the actual date
when the letter came out.
New board
According to AVB the meeting continued address-
ing the ‘motion’ with the selection of new board
members. Four candidates have been elected by
the present twelve clubs. AVB president is currently
Mr. Richard Dijk Hoff, vice president is Lysander
Besselink and the board members are Leopold Her-
nandis, Rosmin Croes, Kurt Thomas, Randolf Lacle,
Bernardo Faro and Marlon Werleman. According to
AVB regulation administration should consist of an
odd number of people (minimum 7 and maximum
of 11), including the president.
