            Advantages of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a book is prototypically a composition of these great length that it takes a
substantial investment of time to compose and a still significant, though not so extensive,
investment of time to browse. In the restricted sense, a publication is a self explanatory section or
portion of a longer article, a usage that reflects the fact that, in antiquity, long works needed to be
written on many scrolls, and every scroll needed to be identified from the book it contained. So, for
instance, each component of Aristotles Physics is called a book. From the unrestricted sense, a
publication is your compositional whole of which such segments, whether known as books or
            chapters or parts, are components.

The intellectual content in a physical book need not be a composition, nor be called a novel.
Novels can consist just of drawings, engravings, or photographs, or such matters as crossword
puzzles or cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages can be left blank or can feature an abstract
group of outlines as service for continuing entries, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a laptop, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily publications are made with
pages thick and sturdy enough to support other physical items, like a scrapbook or photograph
album. Books could be distributed in digital form as e-books and other formats.

Although in ordinary academic parlance that a monograph is known to be a professional academic
work, instead of a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph denotes more broadly any non-serial book complete in one volume (publication ) or a
finite number of volumes (a publication like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), in
contrast to sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. A store where books are
purchased and sold is a bookshop or bookstore. Books can also be sold everywhere. Google has
estimated that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 different titles had been published. In some
wealthier countries, the selling of printed books has decreased because of the increased use of e-
            books.

In the 2000s, due to the rise in availability of affordable handheld computing devices, the chance to
share texts via digital means became an attractive alternative for media publishers. The expression
e-book is a contraction of"digital book"; it pertains to some book-length book in digital form. An e-
book is generally made accessible through the internet, but also on CD-ROM and other forms. E-
Books might be read either via a computing device with an LED display like a conventional
computer, a smartphone or a tablet computer; or by means of a portable e-ink display device
known as an e-book reader, like the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or even
the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers try to mimic the experience of reading a print book by using
this technology, because the displays onto e-book readers are not as reflective.
