The Wound Healing Process

 Partial Thickness Wounds: involve the
epidermal& dermal layers only. The Healing
Process is through regeneration -the same type
of tissue replaces the tissue that was lost
For Example - Stage 2 Pressure Ulcer

 Full Thickness Wounds: complete loss of
epidermal & dermal layers; extends to
subcutaneous tissue or muscle. Skin layers and
deep dermal structures cannot regenerate. The
healing process is through scar formation-
granulation, contraction & re epithelialization
For Example : Stage 3 & 4 Pressure Ulcers
