Useful Quantifiers
Quantifiers are words or phrases that indicate the amount or quantity of something. They are
used before nouns to specify whether the noun is countable or uncountable.
Countable → many, several, a few, some, a couple of, a number of, a lot of, etc.
“We bought him some new clothes for his birthday.”
“I gave my mom a few handmade cards for her birthday last week.”
“They got me a couple of books on my favorite artist for Christmas.”
“He offered me a small number of items as a token of appreciation for
helping him move.”
“We bought him a new guitar for his graduation, and we also gave him a lot
of new accessories for it.”
Uncountable → much, a little, a bit of, some, a lot of, plenty of, etc.
“She sent her friend plenty of beautiful flowers to celebrate her new job.”
“I didn't spend much time on the gift, but I hope she still likes it.”
“He offered me a little appreciation for helping him move.”
“He added a bit of color to the package to make it more festive.”
“They sent me some delicious food from their hometown as a gift.”
