5 Making a Promotion: “Come and join us!”
How to Speak at Length
To help talking lengthily about hobbies and interests, add some details about
“how often”, “where” and some information about “when” and “why”.
In pairs, make a promotion for a student club. The promotion should include this information:
• What: name of the club, activity
• Who: member, official
• How Often: frequency of activity
• When: schedule
• Where: place
• Why: facility, benefit
Then, go around in the class to promote it and take notes on the names of students who are interested in
joining. The pair who gets the most number of students joining is the best promotion agent.
6 Show and Tell: “Then and Now”
In a group of four, show a photo about something you liked then and what you dislike now (or vice versa),
and tell the class about it.
Steps to do the Show and Tell:
1. One student starts by sharing a picture of what he/she liked (or disliked) then and what he/she
likes (or dislikes) now.
2. Other students take turns to ask him/her a question.
3. When all students in the group are finished asking, another student shares his/her picture.
4. Other students take turns to ask him/her a question.
5. The process continues until all students share their picture.
