Preface

All praise is due to Allah SWT, whose mercy and guidance have enabled us to complete the English for
Librarians module. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the academic team, writers, and
reviewers for their dedication and expertise in developing this resource.

English for Librarians is a practical communication skills program designed to help librarians serve
international and non-native English-speaking patrons with clarity and professionalism. It focuses on
essential vocabulary, functional expressions, and strategies for explaining library resources, facilities,
procedures, and online systems in accurate, user-friendly English.

Organized into seven integrated units, the module offers realistic activities and scenarios that mirror
authentic library interactions, both in person and online. Through guided practice, participants will build the
confidence to provide information, guide patrons through library processes, and deliver high-quality
customer service in English.

We hope this module will be a valuable tool for librarians seeking to improve their workplace
communication skills and enhance the inclusivity and accessibility of library services. May it bring
meaningful benefits to all who use it.
