PREFACE
Business English 1 and Business English 2 are the first series of Business English modules which
were especially designed for students at the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and
Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. While designing module has been the passion of
the writer, Business English is quite a new field that the writer is currently involved in. In other words,
the modules are the first products designed using ESP (English for Specific Purposes) approach that
the writer had been made. As the sub-field of ESP, the modules prepare students with basic and pre-
intermediate oral and written skills in handling business matters. Therefore, the contents mostly
expose students with oral and written texts which highlight the useful expressions commonly used for
business purposes, as well as specific, relevant vocabulary to equip students in order to be able to
produce a sound, communicative language in business situations.
Due to some constraints, these pieces of work surely need evaluation and revision. Thus, constructive
feedbacks are highly appreciated for the sake of the improvement of these modules.
