Preposition of Place and Movement
Prepositions show us a noun’s relationship to another word in the sentence. Prepositions usually come
before nouns.
Preposition of place is used to describe the place where something is located.
It includes in, on, in front of, behind, next to, near, opposite, under, at, on the left/ right
Example:
✓ The Dermatology Department is next to the Oncology Department.
✓ Go straight and find the Cashier on your right.
Prepositions of movement show movement from one place to another place. These prepositions always
describe movement and we usually use them with verbs of motion.
It includes across, around, away from, down, from, into, off, onto, out of, over, to, through, toward, up,
etc.
Example:
✓ Take the elevator and go up to the third floor.
✓ You have to go across this building to find the parking area.
